Winnie Njeri, 45. passed away Tuesday morning, October 15, 2024 at her home in Severy, Kansas following an extended battle with cancer.
She was born on December 16, 1978 in Nakuru, Kenya. Winnie attended high school in Nakuru until her education was briefly put on hold while she moved to Wichita, Kansas in 1996. Winnie would go on to complete her education later that same year.
In 1997 she began working as a data entry clerk and office assistant at Progressive Home Health & Hospice in Wichita. Winnie held this position for two years before moving to south eastern Kansas.
On August 12, 2012 Winnie met the love of her life, James C. Aikman Jr. They were inseparable from that point on. Winnie and James had two beautiful sons together. Charlie came first in 2018 followed by Michael in 2020.
Winnie suffered a massive heart attack 18 months after Charlie was born which made her dependent on the use of a wheel chair. In the late months of 2023, Winnie was dealt another tremendous challenge in the form of a cancer diagnosis. She fought bravely guided by her faith to the very end.
Winnie will live on in the hearts and treasured memories of her dearest companion James, her son, Charlie; step daughters, Cynthia Aikman, Katherine Aikman and Samantha Aikman; a step son, Jamie Davis; sisters, Dorothy Mwihaki McPherson and Paris Muthoni; brothers, George Nganga and James Kamau; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and a community of friends. She was preceded in death by a son, Michael Aikman on June 16, 2024; her mother, Ruth Kamau; a sister, Irene Warjiru and a brother, Michael Mbugua.
