Wesley H. Burris Jr., 54, passed away Tuesday, April 30, 2019 at his mother’s home in Hartford. He was born on September 23, 1964 in Iola, Kansas the son of Wesley H. Burris, Sr. and Carmon Sue Adams. Wes attended grade school at Neosho Rapids and later attended Hartford High School. As a young man, Wes worked at I.B.P. in Emporia. He participated in the construction of the Wolf Creek Nuclear Power Station and later worked as a demolition technician with the APAC Quarry. Wes also worked at Wilson Trucking and Birk Oil before taking a job as a machinist with Mid American Machines in LeRoy. In 2012 he began battling with health issues and was forced to stop working. Wes was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Emporia. He will live on in the hearts of his mother, Carmon Burris of Hartford; a daughter, Christy Georing of Las Vegas, Nevada; sisters, Sheryl Burris of Neosho Rapids and Teresa Matthews of Hartford; a brother, Steven Burris of Hartford; a granddaughter, Aspen Georing of Las Vegas; nieces, Jaime Burris, Charlee Matthews, Dakota and Ashlyn Keighley and nephews, Sidney and Mickey Matthews. Wes was preceded in death by his father, Wesley H. Burris Sr.; paternal grandparents, Moses and Anna Burris; maternal grandparents, Herchell and Oga Adams; a step-son, Brent Georing and a niece, Tessa Matthews.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 4, 2019 at the Jones VanArsdale Funeral Home in Lebo. Burial will follow services at Hartford Cemetery. The family will receive friends an hour prior to services on Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hartford United Methodist Women and sent in care of the funeral home. Condolences may be expressed at vanarsdalefs.com.
