Wayne D. Banks, 103, passed away Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at Peterson's Nursing Home in Osage City.
Wayne was born March 10, 1913 in Republic Couny, Kansas, the son of Howard H. and Ethel (Sundine) Banks. He graduated high school in Lincoln, Nebraska.
He was a long time farmer and resident of Osage County.
Wayne was joined in marriage to Anita Lind on December 4, 1947 in Topeka. They were married for 68 years.
He will be remembered by his wife, Anita of Osage City; a daughter, Linda (Dale) Mooney of Oskaloosa, KS; a son, David (Donna) Banks of Council Grove, KS; three grandchildren, Danelle (Monte) Steffey, Lori (Robert) Alexander and Travis (Laticia) Mooney; eight great grandchildren, Kayla and Hunter Steffey, Monte Steffey II, Christopher (Samatha) Alexander, Dylan Alexander, Preston Alexander and Vada and Isaiah Mooney and one great-great granddaughter, Sophia Alexander.
Wayne was preceded in death by parents, a sister and two brothers.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 17, 2016 at VanArsdale Funeral Chapel in Osage City. Interment will be in Union Cemetery in Osage City. Family will receive friends an hour before service. Memorial contributions may be made to Countryside Baptist Church and sent in care of VanArsdale Funeral Chapel, 107 N. Sixth, Osage City, KS 66523.
