Warner Rogers Hopkins

Warner Rogers Hopkins, 82, passed away Saturday Sept. 10, 2016 at his home in Hartford.
He was born April 28, 1934 in West Plains, Missouri the son of Hubert and Fern Robinson Hopkins. Rogers attended LeRoy High School and graduated with the Class of 1952.
He was joined in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Lavona Brown on October 11, 1952 at the LeRoy Christian Church.

The young couple moved to Kansas City, Missouri where Rogers worked as a salesman at Sears. They later moved to Burlington, Kansas in the mid 1960’s. Rogers and Lavona moved around for a few years, living in Seymour, Missouri and Neosho Rapids, Kansas before making their home the past 50 years in Hartford.

Rogers worked at the Montgomery Ward Store in Emporia and later owned and operated the Neosho Lounge in Hartford. He would go on to work as a maintenance engineer at the Coffey County Courthouse before retiring in the mid 1990’s.

His favorite pass times included, fishing, mushroom hunting and tending his garden.

He will live on in the hearts of his wife, Lavona of their home; daughters, Janet Hopkins of Hartford, Kathy Hopkins of Lebo and Susan Hall and her husband Larry of Perry; sons Tony Hopkins and his wife Jean Ann of Phoenix, Arizona and Mark Hopkins and his wife Linda of Lebo; grandchildren, Eric, Jennifer, Lacey, Andrew, Matthew and Jamison; great- grandchildren, Nicholas, Anthony, Brianna, Brayden, Brycen, Brylee, Alexis, Erica and Drayden. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert “Bobby” Hopkins and Terry Hopkins; two grandchildren, Karen Ann and Amy Christine.

Mr. Hopkin’s wishes were to be cremated with no services.
