Waneta Mae Morman Gruber

Waneta Mae Morman Gruber, 92, passed away Monday evening at Newman Regional Health. ��She was born April 19, 1923 in Madison, Kansas, the daughter of William and Grace Carless Price Moorman. Waneta grew up in Madison and graduated from Madison High School as a member of the Class of 1941. She went on to attend the College of Emporia. Waneta took a job with an insurance company in Wichita during WWII. ��She was joined in marriage to the love of her life, Kenneth W. Gruber I on October 19, 1944 in Emporia, Kansas. Kenneth was a career Air Force pilot which took the couple throughout the United States and abroad. They moved to Mulvane, Kansas after having lived in El Paso, Texas, Boise, Idaho, Salina, Dayton, Ohio, Newfoundland, Andrews Air Force Base in Washington DC., the Panama Canal zone, College Station and Bryan, Texas. Waneta and Kenneth enjoyed over 50 years together before he preceded her in death on September 23, 1996. Following Kenneth's death , Waneta relocated to Madison and returned to her home church, the Madison Presbyterian Church. ��She will remain dear to the hearts of her family including daughters, Linda Gruber of Madison and Mary Stewart ( Jim) of Peoria, Arizona; son, Kenneth W. Gruber II of Lamont, Kansas; step sister, Helena Robertson of Derby, Kansas; step sister-in-law, Joan Henry of Hays, Kansas; five grandchildren, Ryan Quick, Hallie Gruber Roberts, Hannah Gruber, Darla Stewart and Kimberlee (Matt) Stewart Sodt; six great-grandchildren; two step great- grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends. Waneta was preceded in death by her parents; step father, Virgil Henry; two step brothers, William and Vernon Henry; one step sister, Medora Stinson; two grandsons, Travis Quick and James Stewart.��
