Virginia Ryan

VIRGINIA M. RYAN OSAGE CITY -- Virginia M. Ryan, 91, passed away Friday, February 27, 2015 at Vintage Park at Osage City, Kansas. Virginia Mae Fry was born August 28, 1923 in Yates Center, Kansas, the daughter of Thomas A. and Anna E. (Eisenbart) Fry. She graduated from Yates Center High School in 1941. It was in school, that she met her sweetheart and love of her life, Bob Ryan. Robert "Bob" and Virginia were married December 24, 1944 in Yates Center. To this union three children were born, Michael, Clyde, Tamara. Virginia was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Osage City. She was an active member of the Alter Society in which she served as a officer many times. She was instrumental in helping to start the ECAT program in Osage City and served on the board as well as working in the store for many years. Virginia will be remembered by a daughter, Tamara (Steve) Bond of Osage City; two sons, Mike (Joy) Ryan of Riverton, Wyoming and Clyde (Mary Kay) Ryan of Rock Springs, Wyoming; eight wonderful grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren, all of whom affectionately called her, "Gramma Sweetheart" and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Bob; a sister, Mary Joan Fry and a brother, Thomas Fry. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, March 5, 2015 at the St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Osage City. Rosary will be recited and family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 7:15 to 8:15 p.m. at the church. Graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Thursday at the Yates Center Cemetery. Virginia requested memorial contributions be made to St. Jude's Children Hospital and sent in care of VanArsdale Funeral Chapel, 107 N. Sixth, Osage City, Kansas 66856.
