Virginia Lee Cotton, 95, passed away Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at the Life Care Center in Burlington. She was born on February 4, 1923 in Burlington, Ks. the daughter of John and Elsie FinusDeitrich. Virginia married James Leo Edington in 1940. They had two sons, Jim and Glen. They were later divorced. She moved from Emporia, Kansas to Albuquerque, New Mexico in 1956 where she met Robert T. ‘Bob” Cotton. At the time she was teaching young Navaho women how to work as waitresses. They were later married on April 27, 1965. Virginia and Bob moved to Show Low, Arizona. They traveled throughout the United States during the early years of their marriage as Bob worked on various constructions projects. Following Bob’s retirement they moved to Americus, Kansas before settling in Emporia. She will live on in the hearts of her son, James Edington and his wife Juanita of Burlington; sisters, Waneta Sutton of Emporia, Dorothy Doolittle of Strong City, Peggy Husk of Indian Hills, North Carolina, Arlene Cornwall of Malakoff, Texas, Carol Means of Emporia and Janice Knight of Lebo; six grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren and many great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Glen E. Edington; her husband Bob; brothers, Norman Deitrich and John Deitrich; two grandson, James Edington Jr. and Norman Edington.
