Timoteo Lira, 101, passed away, Saturday, November 5, 2022 at his daughter’s home in Kansas City, Missouri.
Timoteo was born February 23, 1921 in Osage City, the son of Nicolas and Gabriela (Moreno) Lira. He graduated from Osage City High Scholl in 1942. After high school, he served in the United States Army during World War II.
He was joined in marriage to Gladys Romero, she preceded him in death in 1971.
Timoteo worked in maintenance for the Santa Fe Railroad and retired in 1981.
He was a very active member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and American Legion Post 198 in Osage City.
He is survived by his daughter, Maria (Dennis) Nelson of Kansas City, Missouri; a son, Joseph Lira of Overland Park, Kansas; four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and his dog, Tiny.
Timoteo was preceded in death by his parents; a infant son; four sisters and three brothers.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, November 9, 2022 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Osage City. Family will receive friends from 9:45 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. at church. Rosary will be recited at 10:15 a.m. before service. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and sent in care of VanArsdale Funeral Chapel, 107 N. Sixth, Osage City, Kansas 66523.
