Ted Davis, of Osage City, Kansas passed away on July 4, 2014 at the Eastridge Nursing Facility in Centralia, Kansas. Ted was the only child of Lawrence and Madge Hurle Davis of rural Osage City. He was born on May 1, 1923 and lived in the home he was born in on the Davis farm until 2003 when he and his wife Pat moved into Osage City after serious health issues. Ted or T.L. as he was also known grew up on a farm eight miles south of Osage City and up and through 8th grade he attended the one room Elkahira School in the section next to the family farm and he rode his old Paint pony "Buster" to school each day. After taking the 8th grade graduation exam at Arvonia School, he bought a Model A Ford and began attending Osage City High School. During high school he played and lettered in football. At age 19, he was joined in marriage to Patricia Leighty in 1942. They moved on to the family farm and lived there until 2003. Patty also worked, once their children were older for 20 plus years at Con Tel Telephone Company which was later bought by Verizon Communications. Ted an Pat had two children, Rebecca Ann and John Thomas, Becky and Tom grew up on the farm and attended Osage schools. Each attended Emporia State University, with Tom graduating form ESU and Becky transferring and graduating from Kansas State University. Becky and Ray Lamond were married and they have two sons, Monte and Michael Lamond. After Ray's death, Becky remarried and is now married to Dan Becker of Centralia. Ted and Pat have six great-grandchildren, Monte and his wife Katie have three children; Spencer, Brinley and Abby. Michael and his wife Rachael have three children; Madison, Hunter and Ethan. He farmed with his father Lawrence until his death in 1980. He also sold Garst and Thomas/Pioneer seed for over 15 years in the 1950's and 1960's and later began selling cars part time for the Osage County Motors, owned by Dale Williams. Later in his life, continuing farming and after the sale of the auto dealership, he began to sell advertising for Waco advertising out of Waco, Nebraska. He was their top salesman for over 17 years and continued up to the time of his accident. Survivors include his wife, Patty of the home, a son, Tom Davis of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; a daughter, Becky Becker and son-in-law Dan of Centralia; grandsons Monte and his wife Katie and their family of Omaha, Nebraska and Michael and his wife Rachael and their family of Topeka and many extended family and friends. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at 10:30 AM., Saturday, July 12, 2014 at the VanArsdale Funeral Chapel in Osage City. Inurnment will follow services at Arvonia Cemetery. The family will receive friends an hour prior to services at the funeral chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association and sent in care of the funeral chapel.
