Susan Leigh (Lombard) Rosetta was born January 24,1946 to Jack and Rosalie (Ferguson) Lombard in Garnett, Kansas. After an extended illness, she died peacefully May 16, at Brookdale Rose Hill Care Facility, Shawnee.
Susan graduated from Humboldt High School in 1964 and from Clark’s School of Business, Topeka in 1965. She married James Emil Rosetta on April 8, 1967. They made their home in Topeka where Susan began her working career at the State Office Building. Susan enjoyed a long career and later retired as the Director of Transportation at USD 437. During her time with the school district, Susan was involved with the KSPTA KS State Pupil Association. She loved attending the bus rodeos and won many awards while competing. She also held several positions on the board such as secretary, treasurer, and president. Susan trained many bus drivers while working for USD 437.
Susan was a hard worker and would do anything for her family. Her children and grandchildren were her world. Susan spent many years working at Ken Berry baseball/softball complex where she was head of the concession stand. Susan and her husband loved watching their children play ball and working at the complex.
Her husband Jim died in November 2018. Susan is survived by her son, Todd (Shelley) Rosetta, Shawnee and grandchildren Alexa and Austin; daughter, Emily (Charles) Cheek, Emporia and grandchildren Connor and Madison; mother, Rosalie Lombard, Emporia; sisters, Sara Hill, Hillsboro; Lana (Bob) Clements, Humboldt; Lisa Harper, Emporia; brother, Craig Lombard, Pratt; sister-in-law, Judy (Ike) Eikleberry, Topeka; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Susan was preceded in death by her husband Jim; her dad Jack Lombard; her brother Mark; sister-in-law Connie (Skeeter) Irvine; and sister-in-law Loraine (Bob) Duncan.
Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 4, 2022 at VanArsdale Funeral Chapel in Osage City. Family will receive friends an hour before service at the funeral home. Inurnment to follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Osage City. Memorial contributions may be made to Ken Berry League-SYAA and sent in care of VanArsdale Funeral Chapel, 107 N.
