Stephen Ray "Snuggy" Sheets

Stephen Ray “Snuggy” Sheets, 52, passed away Tuesday, August 14, 2018 at Via Christy St. Francis Hospital in Wichita. He was born September 28, 1965 in Lindsborg, Kansas the son of Ronald H. and Janice K. Harlan Sheets. Stephen attended Neodesha High School and graduated with the Class of 1984. In high school Steve was an avid football, basketball and track athlete and won many local and state awards. Following high school, Stephen briefly worked on a cable construction crew with Mississippi Valley Communications Inc. in Missouri. He would go on to attend Independence Community College in 1985 and was a member of the football team. Stephen would later work for Evergreen Construction in Neodesha. He married Denys Musch in March of 1991 in Madison, Kansas. They would later divorce. During the early 1990’s, Stephen worked for the  Alert Company out of Fredonia, Kansas. He would go on to work throughout the United States as well as Jamaica. In 2002 while  at Taylor Crane and Rigging in Coffeyville, Stephen sustained an injury that  that would no longer allow him to work.  Stephen will live on in the hearts of his daughters, Kayla Sheets of Overland Park and Rachelle (Ryan) Polk of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; his mother, Janice  (Alan) Steinbach of Madison; father, Ron Sheets of Independence, Kansas, sister, Michelle (Harry) Gifford of Olpe, Kansas; brother, John (Jerald) Sheets of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma; step sister, Amanda (Aaron) Godsey of Pittsburg, Kansas; step brother, Matt Steinbach of Bolivar, Missouri; one niece and three nephews; his beloved cat “Tuffy” as well as numerous extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his step mother, Marlene Sheets.  A celebration of Stephen’s life will be held at 2:30 P.M., Saturday, August 18, 2018 at the VanArsdale Funeral Home in Madison, Kansas. Cremation will follow services and inurnment will take place at Blakely Cemetery at a later date. The family will receive friends from 1:30 P.M. Saturday until service time.
