Shary Witter Hallgren, 80, of Osage City, died Sunday, October 8, 2023 at her home.
Sharoll Jane Witter was born November 10, 1942 in Hebron, Nebraska, the daughter of George E. and Ella R. (Wilken) Witter. She graduated from Belleville High School in Belleville, Kansas. In 1961, she graduated from Crumb’s Beauty School in Manhattan, Kansas.
Shary married Max L. Hallgren in 1964. To this union two children were born, Kimberly and Kenneth. Max and Shary were later divorced. She married Delbert E. Wegener in 1986. He preceded her in death in 1997. She and Max remarried in 1999, and they made their home in Osage City. He preceded her in death in 2017.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Osage City, Women In Faith, Marshall Club and Widows Better Together Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; grandparent, George and Rose Wilken and Harry and Louise Witter; a brother, Ron Witter; brothers-in-law, Warren Hallgren, Merlyn Farlee, and Don Brown.
Shary will be forever remembered by her children, Kimberly D. Hallgren and Kenneth “Boo” A. (Denise) Hallgren, both of Osage City; grandchildren, Kyle (Kyla) Hallgren of Auburn, Colton (Danielle) Hallgren of Osage City, and McKenna Hallgren of Osage City; great-grandsons, Max and Henry Hallgren of Osage City, and Charles and Carson Hallgren of Auburn; a sister, Kathy Brown of Castle Pines, Colorado; and brother, Michael (Wendi) Witter of Arvada, Colorado; and in laws, Elaine Witter of State College, Pennsylvania, Jean Farlee of Republic, Kansas, Bud and Darlene Hallgren of Topeka and Evelyn Hallgren of Topeka; and many other relatives and special friends.
Celebration of Life service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, October 13, 2023 at the First United Methodist Church in Osage City. Family will receive friends an hour before service. Inurnment will be at Osage City Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to United Methodist Women Kitchen Fund and sent in care of VanArsdale Funeral Chapel, 107 N.
