Sharon Kay Shipley

Sharon Kay Shipley, 72, passed away early Monday morning, December 10, 2018 at Holiday Resort in Emporia. She was born December 16, 1945 in rural Neosho Falls, Kansas the daughter of Lawrence Leonard and Vivian Mae Smith Yoho. Sharon  attended LeRoy High School and graduated with the Class of 1963. She would further her education by attending Clark’s Business School where she graduated in 1964. Sharon was joined in marriage to Ronald D. Shipley on June 13, 1964 at the First Christian Church in LeRoy, Kansas.  The young couple began their life together in Emporia where their sons, Gregory and Dallas were born. Sharon’s work history incudes working at Kansas State Teachers College; Hardee’s and Krueger & Sullivan Boiler Works.  She was most proud of being a mother and homemaker. She held a deep love for animals and had a cat most of her life.  Her faith in Christ began at an early age when she was baptized in the Neosho River near LeRoy. Sharon was a longtime member of the LeRoy Christian Church. She was currently attending the First Congregational Church in Emporia.  Sharon will  live on in the hearts of her husband, Ron of their home in Emporia; sons, Gregory Shipley of  Salina, Kansas  and Dallas Shipley of Emporia; numerous extended family and a host of dear friends.   Services will be held  at 11:00 A.M., Monday, December 17, 2018 at the First Congregational Church in Emporia. Burial will follow services at Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services at the church.
