Roy D. Mochamer, Jr., 84, passed away Friday, March 25, 2016 at Midland Hospice Care in Topeka.
Roy was born February 20, 1932 in Osage City, Kansas the son of Roy D. and Gladys Steen Mochamer Sr. He attended a one room school during his early years and went on to graduate from Reading High School.
Roy was an accomplished farmer and cattleman east of Reading. He held great pride in the quality of his pastures and livestock. He worked to protect area pasture land by traveling to Topeka and speaking with the state legislature which aided in having sericea lespedeza labeled as a noxious weed in the state of Kansas.
Roy’s mother passed away when he was a young man. Roy cared for his step mother Anna after his father passed away in 1984, until her death in 2012.
He was well known for loving to dance which led to Roy becoming acquainted with Juniata Black. Roy and Juanita would share their lives with each other for the next thirty four years.
Roy will live on in the hearts of Juanita and his many cousins extended family and dear friends.
