Robert Keith Marlar. 85, passed away Wednesday, August 15, 2018 at Holiday Resort in Emporia. He was born August 20, 1932 in Emporia, Kansas the son of Emil and Sylvia Farr Marlar. Bob attended Madison High School and graduated with the Class of 1950. On July 31, 1953, Bob was inducted into the United States Army. He was a member of the “Big Red One” and served in Kitzingen Germany. Bob received an honorable discharge on May 19, 1955. After coming home he would spend the rest of his life in Greenwood County. Bob married the love of his life, Wilma May Callen on August 17, 1956 in Madison. Bob always claimed his hobby was farming the family owned acreage that his parents started, but he supported his family as a heavy equipment operator for Madison Township and working in the oil fields. He will live on in the hearts of his devoted wife of 62 years, Wilma Marlar of their home in Emporia; daughters, Melinda L. Marlar and Felicia A. Marlar both of Topeka; brother-in-law, Wayne (Judith) Callen of Madison; sister-in-law, Doris (Erik) Mackey of Monte Vista, Colorado and sister-in-law, Judy Callen of Madison. Bob was preceded in death by an infant sister, Goldie; a sister and brother-in-law, Norma Jean (Otis) Phillips; a brother-in-law, James Callen and a nephew, Richard Phillips. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Monday, August 20, 2018 at the First Christian Church in Madison. Reverend Bob Robison will be officiating services. Inurnment will take place at Blakely Cemetery at a later date. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the First Christian Church and sent in care of the VanArsdale Funeral Home at P.O. Box #488, Madison, Kansas 66860.
