Raymond Kenneth Sturgeon

Raymond Kenneth Sturgeon, 74, passed away August 23, 2018 at his home in Madison.  He was born August 23, 1944 in Wichita, Kansas the son of Glenn Arthur and Wilma Gruber Sturgeon. Ray attended Madison High School and graduated with the Class of 1962. Shortly after High School, Ray enlisted with the United States Air Force.  He would serve in Vietnam during the tumultuous early years of the war. After earning a honorable discharge from the Air Force he returned  home before moving to Washington.   He was joined in marriage to Beverly Jean Ryan on May 10, 1969 in Seattle, Washington.  They began their family with the birth of a son,  Tate and later a daughter, Noelle. Raymond and Beverly would eventually divorce.  Ray raised his children as a single parent, living in Idaho where he nurtured his love for the outdoors and the wonders of nature.  He would live out the remainder of his life in Madison, Kansas after returning home in 2004. He will live on in the hearts of a large and loving family and a host of friends.  Cremation is planned with a Celebration of Raymond’s Life being held at a later date.
