Patricia Anne Rasmussen, 86, passed away Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at the Newton Medical Center. She was born November 10, 1931 in Emporia, Kansas the daughter of Ola and Edith Rice Berentz. Patricia was a graduate of Tonganoxie High School and chose to further her education at Emporia State Teachers College. As a young women she was employed as a clothes buyer for Jones’s Department Store in Kansas City. She was joined in marriage to Don Rasmussen on November 27, 1949 in Tonganoxie. Pat and Don opened Pat’s Drive In in Madison in 1968. They operated the Drive In well into the late 1970’s. Pat was a member of the Madison United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women and sang in the church choir. DY P.E.O. Her other civic memberships include the Chapter DY P.E.O., Civic Culture Club and the Red Hat Society. Pat was a thoughtful and caring person who loved her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Don on February 14, 1985 and a brother, Jack Berentz. Pat will live on in the hearts of her daughter, Jan Haas of Wichita and a son Jay Rasmussen and his wife Margaret of Phoenix, Arizona; grandchildren, Kerry Rasmussen, Anna Wiseman and husband James and Jenny Cox and husband Talmage of Wichita; a great-grandchild, Jackson Wiseman. A memorial celebration will be held at 11:30 A.M., Monday, September 17, 2018 at the Madison United Methodist Church. Inurnment will be at Blakely Cemetery north of Madison.
