Norman D. Hollis, 79 passed away Friday, May 5, 2017 at Holiday Resort in Emporia.
He was born July 12, 1937 in Madison, Kansas the son of James William and Alma Kirkpatrick Hollis. Norman was raised S.W. of Madison and attended Madison High School graduating with the Class of 1955. He would further his education by attending two years at Emporia State University.
Norman operated the Conoco Station in Madison with his father until 1970. He later worked at Modine Manufacturing starting on the soldering line and later operating a punch press. Norman retired after 17 years of service.
He was forever joined in marriage to Helen L. Foerster on August 6, 1964 at Messiah Lutheran Church in Emporia. They would continue to attend church there throughout their life together.
Norman will live on in the hearts of his loving wife Helen of their home in Madison; daughter, Buffie Hollis of College Station, Texas; a son, John Hollis and his wife Rebecca of Fort Worth, Texas and a grandson, Jakob Hollis; numerous extended family and countless dear friends. He was preceded in death by a sister, Clara Louise Reisbig; twin brother, Raymond Hollis and a brother James Hollis.
Cremation is planned with a memorial service being held at 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at the VanArsdale Funeral Home in Madison. Memorial contributions may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation or Messiah Lutheran Church and sent in care of the funeral home. Condolences may be expressed at vanarsdalefs.com.
