Mary Ann McMullen, 70 of Eskridge, passed away Saturday, March 3, 2018 at the Alma Manor. She was born April 15, 1947 in Pittsfield, Illinois the daughter of Joseph A. and Helen M. Gilmore McGinley. Mary Ann grew up in Quincy, Illinois and attend St. Johns Catholic School. Mary Ann married William Britton and the couple later divorced. She would marry Carl S. McMullen on February 12, 1970 in Quincy, Ill. Carl preceded her in death on March 11, 1998. Mary Ann had a strong sense of faith and community, holding memberships in the Eskridge Southern Baptist Church and the Gateway to The Flint Hills Coalition. She was active in the planning of the Eskridge Veteran’s Day Parade put on by the Coalition. Her social and giving nature came to light as she began working in nursing and later worked in food service and as a school para. Mary Ann had been a 4-H leader and enjoyed all children. She had a love for gardening and was once active in numerous bowling leagues. Mary Ann will live on in the hearts of her daughters, Melissa McKenna of Eskridge, Michelle Zerbe of Eskridge and Crystal Moore of Eskridge; brothers, Danny “Butch” McGinley and Timothy P. McGinley both of Chester, Neb.; twelve grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren; numerous extended family and countless dear friends. She was preceded in death by a son, Michael McMullen; sister, Kathy McGinley; brother, Michael J. McGinley; son-in-law, Douglas Pierce and son-in-law, Gary Moore. A celebration of her life will be held at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at the Eskridge Southern Baptist Church. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 5:30 P.M. until 7:00P.M. at the VanArsdale Funeral Home in Eskridge. Burial is scheduled for 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at Chester Cemetery in Chester, Nebraska. Memorial contributions may be made to the Susan G. Komen Foundation or the United Community of Christian Women and sent in care of the funeral home. Condolences may be expressed at vanarsdalefs.com.
