Marion V. Garman, 90, passed away, Friday, July 31, 2020 at Trinity Nursing and Rehab in Merriam, Kansas.
Marion Virgil Gaman was born March 19, 1930 in Turon, Kansas, the son of Charles and Maudie (Ruckman) Garman.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Marion had worked maintenance for Rickel Elevators throughout Kansas, Nebraska and Colorado. In 1969, he moved to the Virgin Islands and was an auto mechanic in St. Croix. Then in 1970, moved back to Kansas and worked at Sullivan Elevators in Ulysses, Kansas, also Cash and Carry Lumber Yard in Garden City and Far Better Feeds. Later moved to Scott City and worked for Burnett Cattle Company and Brookover Feeders. He retired from Kirk Grain Company in Scott City.
He later married Karen Kay Hickey on May 31, 1981 in Garden City. She preceded him in death on March 16, 2016.
He will be forever remembered by his three daughters, JoAnne (Dan) Beckman of Emporia, Cindy (Troy) Burhoop of Salina and Karla (Paul) Lickteig of Derby, Kansas; three sons, Craig (Leanne) Garman of Admire, David (Sherry) Hickey of Scott City, Kansas and Dan (Mary) Hickey of Loveland, Colorado; a sister, Annabelle Schwab of Cheyenne Wells, Colorado; thirty-one grandchildren, thrity-seven great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.
Marion was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Clayton and Randall Garman; two brothers, John and LeRoy Garman; two step-brothers, Leon and Vernon Farmer.
Graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, August 6, 2020 at All Saints Cemetery in Salina, Kansas. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association and sent in care of Jones VanArsdale Funeral Home, P.O. Box 43, Lebo, Kansas 66856.
