  Marion Evelyn  “Pat” Agrelius, 102, passed away Thursday, July 18, 2019 at the Greenwood County Hospital in Eureka. She was born on September 23, 1916  in Upstate New York,  the daughter of John E. and Esther Hanlon Haley.  Pat moved to the Hamilton and Eureka area in the 1940’s.  She is preceded in death by her husband, Claire Agrelius of Eureka.  Pat turned her focus to ranching and raising cattle. She began with a herd of cattle before exclusively raising Angus. Her interests ranged from being a successful stockwoman to serving the Republican Party her entire life. Pat proudly served as a Republican Delegate at the 1964 Republican Convention in San Francisco.  She had attended St. John’s Catholic Church in Hamilton since moving to Greenwood County. Pat will live on in the hearts of her beloved daughter, Patricia Samuelson of Houston, Texas; a sister, Ruth Slobody of Florida; granddaughters, Laura Samuelson and Leslie Macconnell; four great-grandchildren, Landon, Zane, Chloe and Emma and her loving nephew Bill Slobody. She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends. A Catholic Mass will be celebrated at 9:00 A.M., Thursday, July 25, 2019 at the St. John’s Catholic Church in Hamilton. Burial will follow services at Janesville Cemetery in Hamilton. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 P.M. until 7:30 P.M. at the VanArsdale Funeral Home in Madison. Memorial contributions may be made to the Greenwood County Hospital and sent in care of the VanArsdale Funeral Home at P.O. Box #488, Madison, Kansas 66860.
