Margaret L. Morehead, 95, a life long resident of Osage County, passed away Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at Vintage Park at Osage City.
Margaret Lucille Regenold was born August 2, 1921 in Osage County, the daughter of William M. and Eva (Harrison) Regenold. She graduated from Osage City High School in 1939 and attended business school in Topeka. She lived in Topeka and worked in the office at Morrell's Meat Packing Plant until marrying Winston and moving back to the Osage area in December of 1945. She was joined in marriage to Winston W. Morehead on February 24, 1945 at her parents home on the Regenold family farm. He preceded her in death on December 13, 1999. Margaret was a homemaker, mother, and a farmer's wife. She spent many hours taking lunch to the field for Winston, helping him move equipment from field to field, bottle feeding baby calves and the myriad activities of running a household, caring for two children, planting a garden every year and canning quarts and quarts of vegetables. She still had time for many church activities and assisted in activities with her children.
Margaret will be forever remembered by her daughter, Linda (Tim) Link of Overland Park; a son, Bill (Selma) Morehead of Osage City; a grandson, Todd (Cynthia) Smutz of Knoxville, TN; three great grandchildren, Richard, Lillian and Clara Smutz; five step grandchildren, Larry Paul, Brenda, Danny, Ryan, Sarah, and many step great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Angela D. Smutz.
