Lloyd Vernon Luthi

Lloyd Vernon Luthi, 87, passed from this life on December 20, 2015 at his home in rural Madison. ��He was born to Fred and Laura (Ott) Luthi on January 16, 1928 in the family home in rural Lamont, Kansas. Lloyd attended school at Lamont and graduated in the class of 1946. He completed a two year agriculture program at Kansas State University. He served his country in the Army during the Korean Conflict. ��Lloyd was joined in marriage to Joann Elaine Wittmer in Bern, Kansas September 30, 1952. Born to this union were four children; Jannette Elaine Luthi of Madison, Jill Kristine Luthi of Topeka, Jay Frederick (Jane) Luthi of Lamont and Jeri Deann (Tom) Knobloch of Madison; 15 grandchildren, Andrea, Aaron (Maria), Marie, Michael (Julie), Hannah, Yolaine and Judy Luthi and Jacob (Krystal), Ester, Nathan, Corbin, and Matthew Knobloch, and one great grandchild Kiah Luthi. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, parents, one sister, Ilva Kaufman, and four brothers, Glenn (Lola), Raymond (Vivian) and infant twins Marvin and Melvin. ��Lloyd was a member of the Lamont-Gridley Apostolic Christian Church. He was a farmer, rancher and dairyman. During his life time he was active in 4-H as a member, leader, parent and grandparent. He was involved in Farm Bureau, Extension Council, Upper Verdigris Watershed, and Lamont and Madison School Districts. He was instrumental in the establishment of Rural Water District #3. Lloyd and Joann were inducted into the Kansas Master Farmer-Master Farm Homemaker class of 1997. In his retirement years, he enjoyed cutting initials and brands into native limestone rocks. He also enjoyed driving a school bus as a substitute, interacting with students. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am, Wednesday, December 23, 2015, at the Apostolic Christian Church in Lamont. Burial will follow services at the Apostolic Christian Church Cemetery south east of Lamont. The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm Tuesday evening at the VanArsdale Funeral Home in Madison. The family request that memorial contributions be made to Hand-in-Hand Hospice or Honor Flight Network and sent in care of VanArsdale Funeral Home, PO Box 488, Madison Kansas 66860 ����
