Linda K. Getsinger

Linda K. Getsinger, 81, passed away, Monday, November 25, 2024 at Homestead of Auburn in Auburn, Kansas.

Linda K. O’Brien was born September 2, 1943 in Parsons, Kansas, the daughter of Lawrence Bernard and Irene Veronica (Brogan) O’Brien. She graduated from Osage City High School in 1961.

She was joined in marriage to Joseph P. “Jody” Getsinger, Jr. on April 20, 1963 in Osage City. To this union two children were born, Melinda Jo and Joseph D..

Linda had worked as a secretary for Hurst Communications for many years. She later worked at the First National Bank.

She was a member of the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, the Altar Society, the Historical Society and Marshall Club. An avid card player, she belonged to a Pitch Club and Bridge Club. She had served as a scout leader. A longtime fan of the Kansas City Royals, Chiefs, Kansas Jayhawks and horse racing.

Linda loved her family and friends and enjoyed spending time with them all, especially during the holidays. Her grandchildren were the light of her life and she loved spoiling them.

She enjoyed traveling with Jody, family and friends. Her favorite trips were to Disney World with her children and grandchildren, to Ireland with her sisters and to the Kentucky Derby with Jody.

Linda will forever be remembered by her daughter, Melinda Jo (Chad) Mooradian of Meriden, Kansas; a son, Joseph D. (Sharidy) Getsinger; two sisters, Becky Bartley of Osage City and Susan O’Brien of California; a brother, Larry O’Brien of Osage City and four grandchildren, Jonah M. Mooradian, Anna M. (Spencer) Qualls, Keenan J. Getsinger and Emma N. Getsinger, many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a brother, Kenneth O’Brien.

Cremation is planned. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to the Osage City Library or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital and may be sent in care of VanArsdale Funeral Chapel, 107 N. Sixth, Osage City, KS 66523.
