Leota “Lorraine” Hammond, 78, passed away Monday, May 6, 2019 at Stormont-Vail Hospital in Topeka. She was born on July 8, 1940 in Lebo, Kansas the daughter of Alfred and Beulah Kennedy Hammond. Lorraine lived most of her life on Lebo before moving to Emporia in the late 1970’s. Lorraine worked as a dental assistant for Dr. Sommers in Emporia for 20 years. She had also worked with Charlie Gillum United Hearing Aide before taking a job with Best Western as a desk clerk. She worked there until her retirement a few years ago. She loved bowling and any type of board game. Lorraine will live on in the hearts of her sister, Darlene Meyers of Salina, Kansas; a brother, Noble Hammond of Emporia; nieces, Glenda Stegmaier, Coleen Combes and Pat Morris; nephews, Justin Combes, Barry Meyers, Brian Meyers, Craig Hammond and Troy Hammond. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Ronald Hammond; a sister, Pearl Combes and a niece Chris Egan.
