Emporia

Laura J. Partridge Sullivan, 71, passed away in the evening hours of Friday, September 20, 2024 at her home in Emporia in the loving care of her family.

She was born July 13, 1953 in Pittsburg, California, the daughter of Henry and Amy Gaines Partridge. Laura grew up in Emporia and attended Emporia High School.

Laura was described as a loving, caring and patient wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She developed a strong work ethic as a young lady which she never waivered from. Laura was employed at Newman Hospital for 20 years and served as the custodial supervisor before taking a position at Menu Foods in 1998. The only thing that ever slowed her down was a back injury that caused her to stop working in 2001.

She was joined in marriage to John W. Sullivan Sr. on March 20, 2003 in Chase County, Kansas. They made their home at their current residence in Emporia where she shared her home with her family and beloved pets. She loved all animals and cared for each of her pets with the gentleness a mother would give to a child.

Laura will live on in the hearts and memories of her loving husband, John Sullivan Sr., of their home; a daughter, Dana Gylmata and husband Michael; a son, David Bryant and wife Cathy; step sons, John Sullivan Jr., Matthew Sullivan and wife Vianca, Daniel Sullivan and Mark Sullivan; a sister, Pamela Warren; brothers, Richard Partridge and wife Doreene, Paul Partridge and wife Millie and Henry Dale Partridge and wife Maria; her seventeen grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Susan Deniger and husband David, Kimberly Hewins and husband Richard; two brothers-in-law, Robert Sullivan and wife Linda and Jay Sullivan and wife Robin; numerous extended family and a community of friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Amy; four sisters, Janie Edington, Nancy Henderson, Marsha VanSyoc and Penny McConkey; two brothers, Jim Partridge and Larry Warren; and a sister-in-law, Dawn Tunnicliff.

The family will have a celebration of life on Saturday, October 5, 2024 at 4:00 P.M. at Victory Fellowship Church in Emporia. Condolence may be expressed at vanarsdalefs.com.
