Kimberly Sue Zabriskie

Kimberly Sue Zabriskie, 60, of Hartford, Kansas passed away on January 13, 2021 at Newman Regional Health in Emporia, Kansas.

Kim was born on March 23, 1960 in Winchester, Kansas to parents John Franz and Ruth Deloris (Gordon) Zabriskie.

Kim attended Hartford High School and received her GED in 1978. She later attended Emporia State University from 1990-1992. Kim was a “people person”, considering many of the community’s children as her own, many of them calling her mom. She took her love of people and cooking into her work, cooking at Emporia State University for many years before moving to Hartford and working at the Café, and later, TK Bar & Grill. Kim later began working in home healthcare where her compassion and care for others continued. Throughout her life, Kim became family with many more than just her immediate family. She lived for her grandchildren and her brother, Danny, whom she always cared for. Kim was an active member of ABATE, Dist. 12 for over 6 years and served on the board as Secretary for 2 years.

Kim is preceded in death by her parents, John and Ruth Zabriskie, and her sister Johanna Zabriskie.

Her loving memory is survived by her daughter, Christina Demotte (Roy) of Hartford, KS; two sons, John Wilson (AnnaMarie) of Hartford, KS and Edward Johnson (Faith) of Jacob’s Creek, KS; sister, Kelly Truelove (Norman) of Lebo, KS; brothers, Daniel “Danny” Zabriskie of Hartford, KS, John Zabriskie (Janice) of Reading, KS, and David Zabriskie of Texas; her partner for over 10 years, Mike Conner of Hartford, KS; and 6 grandchildren, Phylisity Johnson, Damon Johnson, Tiffany Johnson, Daden Wilson, Jade Wilson, and Lane Wilson.

A Memorial Service will be held by the family at a later date. Updates will follow as planning is completed.
