Kathleen Rae Whalen

Kathleen R. Whalen, 78, passed away, Saturday, April 12, 2025, at Midland Hospice Care in Topeka.

Kathleen Rae Bergquist was born November 13, 1946, in Osage City, the daughter of Carl Swen and Aline Louise (Vialle) Bergquist. She graduated from Osage City High School in 1964 and attended Clark Business School.

She was joined in marriage to Michael James Whalen on April 15, 1967, in Osage City. To this union, a son was born, Joseph Todd Whalen.

Kathleen worked many years as a secretary for the Santa Fe Railroad and then later at Osage City Grade School and High School.

She was a member of the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Osage City.

Kathleen will be forever remembered by her husband, Michael of the home, son, Joseph T. Whalen of Osage City and many extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Nadine Hammond.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m.., Tuesday, April 22, 2025, at the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Osage City. Rosary will be recited at 9:00 a.m. before mass at the church. Inurnment will take place after mass at Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Patrick’s Altar Society and sent in care of VanArsdale Funeral Chapel, 107 N.
