Julie Ann Brosemer

December 31, 1952 — January 7, 2025

Osage City

Julie Ann Brosemer, longtime Marion County florist, beloved substitute teacher and beautiful and soulful friend to many, died on January 7, 2025, in Osage City, one week after her 72nd birthday.

Born on New Year’s Eve in McPherson in 1952 to Jim and Phyllis Brosemer, both now deceased, she is survived by her brother Steven S. Brosemer as well as Merrilee Meisner of Osage City.

Julie attended Heights High School in Wichita, becoming mother to daughter Mariah and son Tyler, before embarking on her long and successful career as a charming neighborhood floral designer. While raising her family she opened her iconic shop, Main Street Flowers in Florence and then Marion. With her abundant talent and vivacious personality, she nurtured and guided a team of like-minded florists, delivering happiness and goodwill along with her beautiful bouquets. Well known in the community for her generosity, kindness and pep, she was an integral part of Marion County life up until and after the shop’s closure.

Proceeded in death by her cherished daughter Mariah Chestnut and her longtime partner Troy Moore, Julie continued her work as a creatively gifted florist in locations throughout central Kansas including Tillie’s Flower Shop in Wichita and Emporia Floral.

Recently she began a fulfilling second life as a substitute teacher in the Osage community, quickly becoming a welcome and wonderful part of many students’ lives. Still lively in her seventies, with her signature sparkling blue eyes she was known by many students as “Mrs. Beautiful.

She will especially be missed by her son, Tyler Jantz, his children, James and Tess. She is whole-heartedly missed by her partner Troy’s extended family including Troy’s daughter Ali and son AJ, their families, as well as nieces and nephews and others too numerous to name.

We on earth grieve the world’s loss of such a shining soul. However, we imagine Julie saying, upon her passing, “Look up at Orion’s Belt in the night sky - I live there now, eternally. But listen to your heart, and you’ll find me there too.”

There will be a celebration of her life at her home, 713 Ellinwood, Osage City, Kansas, on January 18, 2025, from 1-4 pm. A private burial of her ashes at Florence Cemetery. Memorials in honor of Osage Friends for Felines or the Julie Brosemer Memorial fund and may be sent in care of VanArsdale Funeral Chapel, 107 N. Sixth, Osage City, Kansas 66523. Condolences may be expressed at Vanarsdalefs.com.
