Judith L. Pickens, 76, passed away, Monday, May 29, 2017 at her home.
Judith Lucille Peek was born September 21, 1940 in Topeka, Kansas, the daughter of Charles O. and Helen G. Peek. She graduated from Highland Park High School in 1958.
She was united in marriage to Richard Ora Pickens on December 21, 1958 in Topeka, Kansas. They met on a blind date set up by their friends.
Judy was a homemaker, loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved to play Bingo but most importantly was her family they always came first.
She was a member of the American Legion #198 Auxillary.
Judy will be forever remembered by her husband, Richard of the home; two daughters, Dena Moore of Osage City, KS and Diana (Cary) Christie of Eugene, OR; a son, Richard D. Pickens of Osage City, KS; a son-in-law, Jack Anstaett of Osage City, KS; sister, Joann (Jerry) Burgen of Lawrence, KS; ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren with two more arriving this year.
Judy is preceded in death by her parents Charles O. and Helen G. Peek, daughter Debra Anstaett and five brothers.
A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held, Sunday, June 25, 2017 from 2:00 p.m to 4:00 pm at the American Legion Building in Osage City. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Legion Post #198 and sent in care of VanArsdale Funeral Chapel, 107 N. Sixth, Osage City, KS 66523.
