Judith L. Thornbrugh, 78, passed away, Thursday, January 17, 2019 at the Olathe Hospice House.She was born November 7, 1940 in Williamsburg, Kansas the daughter of Lee Eldon and Nona Martin Van Valkenburg. Judith was raised in the Williamsburg area and attended Williamsburg High School. Judith married the love of her life, James Franklin Thornbrugh on October 16, 1957 in Coeur d’ Alene, Idaho. During the early years of marriage, Judith concentrated her time in raising her children. While they were young she worked at Parmalee’s in Ottawa making eyeglass frames. In 1969 Judith and James moved their family to Waverly and she became a full time homemaker. She seemed to always keep busy and enjoyed needle point, cross stitch and knitting. Judith and James attended the Williamsburg United Methodist Church. On October 5, 2017, James preceded her in death just days before their 60th wedding anniversary. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Mark Thornbrugh in 1986 and Larry Thornbrugh on January 14, 2019. Judith will live on in the hearts of her sons, Dale Thornbrugh of Waverly and Robert Thornbrugh and his wife Mary of Agricola; a sister, Sue Stevenson of Crest View, Florida; a brother, Harry Van Valkenburg of Independence, Missouri; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Her life will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M., Monday, January 21, 2019 at the Jones VanArsdale Funeral Home in Lebo. She will lie in state Sunday afternoon from 2:00 P.M. until 5:00 P.M. at the funeral home. Burial will follow services at Pleasant View Cemetery in Agricola.
