John Lee Runcie

John Lee Runcie. 62, passed away, Wednesday, July 4, 2018 at Via Christy St. Francis Hospital in Wichita. John was born April 20, 1956 in Omaha, Nebraska, the son of Donald  and Jean Pontine         Runcie Sr.  He attended Hastings High School and graduated with the Class of 1974. Following high school, John worked  for a local farmer near Doniphan and Gibbon, Nebraska.  He later worked for Double-4 Farms in Henderson, Nebraska and farmed near Central City.  In 1986 John moved to Kansas and drove for several area trucking companies. He has been a driver for Knight Trucking in Lebo for the past 14 years. John married Theresa Vodehnal on November 11, 1979 in Grand Island, Nebraska. They had two children together, Jill and Scott. John and Theresa would later divorce. John would share his life with Linda Luginsland for 25 years before her death in the fall of 2013.  He was joined in marriage to Sandra Birnbaum on September 8, 2017 in Miami, Oklahoma.   He will live on in the hearts of his wife Sandra of their home in Emporia, Kansas; a daughter Jill Eickhoff and her husband Chad of Kearney, Nebraska; a son, Scott Runcie and his wife Charlotte of Seward, Nebraska; two step daughters, Becky Cox and her husband Matt of Dearing, Kansas and Amanda Meade and her husband Ron of Emporia; two step sons, William Goodwin, Jr. of Albany, Indiana and Kyle Goodwin of Alma, Kansas; a brother, Don Runcie, Jr. of Hastings, Nebraska; grandchildren, Emmet Eickhoff, Riley Runcie, Bryker Runcie, Henrick Runcie and Tayden Rasgorshek; step grandchildren, Brooklyn Marie Goodwin, Austin Elliott, Dustin Elliott and Bailey Meade; Step great-grandchildren, Karsyn Meade, Henry Wiedmer and Lorelai Elliott.  Memorial services will be held at 7:00 P.M., Tuesday, July 10th at the Jones VanArsdale Funeral Home in Lebo. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to University of Nebraska at Kearney Safety Center-Professional Driving School and sent in care of the funeral home.
