John Douglas Fletcher, 87, of Osage City, passed away, Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at his home in Osage City.
John Douglas Fletcher was born June 9, 1929 in Kirksville, Missouri, the son of John Dee and Rose Frances (White) Fletcher. He graduated high school in Independence, Kansas in 1948.
He was joined in marriage to Alice Marie Meyer on January 12, 1958 in Independence, Kansas.
John had worked for US Steel, Department of Interior and US Postal Service until his retirement in 1985. He had many hobbies and skills to do anything he put his mind too, especially gardening and woodworking.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two grandsons, Chris and Michael Lindgren; a brother, David Fletcher and a sister, Lillian Ruth Fletcher.
He will be forever remembered by his wife, Alice, of the home; two daughters, Kathy (Robert) Jayko of Chrystal Lake, Illinois and Judy Lindgren of Clintonville, Wisconsin; a son, Steven Fletcher of Tulsa, Oklahoma; a brother, Ben Fletcher of Harrisonville, Missouri; ten grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
The family will have a Celebration of Life Gathering on Friday, April 28, 2017 from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Fletcher's home, 5343 W. 241st, Osage City. Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army or Kansas School for the Deaf and may be sent in care of VanArsdale Funeral Chapel, 107 N. Sixth, Osage City, KS 66523.
