Jimmie "Dale" Jennings, a devoted husband, father, grandad, and friend departed this world on January 18, 2025, at his beloved home in Osage City, Kansas. Born on August 27, 1945, in Topeka, Kansas, Dale lived a life embedded with hard work, laughter, and the warmth of family.
Dale dedicated three decades to Hallmark, serving diligently from 1966 until 1991, before stepping into entrepreneurship as the owner and operator of D&M Printing in Osage City from 1988 until 2007. Even after retiring from his print shop, he remained engaged with the local community through his work with the Osage County Chronicle, remaining a familiar figure until his passing. Alongside his professional endeavors, Dale also tended to the family farm, collaborating with his brother, Glen, sharing not only labor but also laughter and cherished memories.
Dale attended Burlingame High School (class of 1963) laying the groundwork for a lifetime of learning and mastery of many trades. A skillful carpenter and jack of all trades, he built two houses and assisted in the construction and renovation of homes for his children, always bringing a touch of his craftsmanship and an abundance of love to these projects.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Dale was known for his spirited nature. A committed and ornery Granddad, he coached his children’s teams in both softball and baseball, instilling lessons of teamwork and perseverance, while nurturing a love for sport within them. When summer arrived, he could often be found enjoying the water while boating or perfecting his swing on the golf course. An avid reader, his intellectual curiosity was matched only by his devotion to Kansas State University, where he proudly cheered for his team.
Dale’s legacy will echo in the lives he touched, especially through his loving wife of 59 years, Marilyn Jennings. He is survived by his daughter, Danelle Fuqua and her husband Mitch of Olathe, Kansas; son Jeff Jennings and his wife Angie of Osage City, Kansas; daughter Julie Biermann and her husband Brian of Louisburg, Kansas; brother Glen Jennings and his wife Shirley of Burlingame, Kansas. The joy of his heart resided in his grandchildren—Kinley, Brynn, Luke, Jace, Madison, Kyler, and Maura—who will carry forward his lively spirit and penchant for fun.
Jimmie Dale Jennings was preceded in death by his parents Jack and Doris Jennings, his beloved grandson, Cade Biermann, whose memory will forever entwine within the hearts of those who loved him. A man whose life was defined by humor, camaraderie, and an unwavering commitment to family, Dale leaves behind a vibrant tapestry of stories, laughter, and love that will resonate for generations to come. May he rest in eternal peace as we cherish the vivid memories of a truly remarkable life.
