�� Jerry Monroe Hughes, 86 of Hamilton, passed away Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at Greenwood County Hospital in Eureka, Kansas He was born February 21, 1929 in rural Hamilton, the son of Harlie Samuel and Neva Rebecca Shook Hughes. Jerry was joined in marriage to Shirley Lee Edwards on June 10, 1969 at the United Methodist Church in Eureka. Jerry was a carpenter, cattleman, farmer and oil field pumper. He greatly enjoyed hunting and fishing. In his later years he liked to sit in his chair watching a ballgame and petting his "pup" Katie. ��He will remain forever in the hearts of his wife, Shirley of their home; precious pet Schnauzer, Katie Bug Hughes; daughter, Denise Stewart of Hamilton; two sons, Steve Hughes of Hamilton and Ken Hughes of Franklin, Texas; a step daughter, Tammy Ashlock and husband Kemp of Hamilton and a brother, Sam Hughes of Hamilton; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Marshall Hughes; a sister, Vera Edwards; a grandson and a great-grandson, Jeff Scott.��
