James D. “Dave” Williams, 67, passed away on Friday, March 26, 2021, at his home in Osage City, KS.
Born on March 9, 1954, Dave was the son of Bud and Evelyn (Mundy) Williams, formerly of Scranton, KS. He spent most of his childhood years growing up in the Topeka, Scranton, and Osage City areas. He attended Capitol City High School in Topeka, KS. Dave proudly worked as an over the road driver, a job which he worked for over 25 years.
Anyone who knew Dave, knew that he didn’t just think outside the box, he lived there. He was an avid junker, collecting things that he would turn into his own works of art. His creativity knew no limits. In addition to collecting objects to repurpose, Dave collected all things Steamboat Willie, Coca Cola, and Marilyn Monroe. His home was filled with memorabilia, including portraits that he had created himself. Dave was also a practical joker. His main goal, no matter where, was to make sure that everyone around him was laughing or smiling. He loved people and greatly loved his dogs, Max, Jr. Patches, and Turtle to name a few.
Dave is preceded in death by his father, Floyd “Bud” Williams; both paternal and maternal grandparents; brother, Mike R. Williams; daughter, Cassie Morgan; one son, Willie Morgan; and 2 nephews.
His loving memory will forever remain with his mother, Evelyn M. Williams of Osage City; daughters, Deema Noonan (Chad) of Osage City, Amanda Cambron (Tim) of Scranton; and Faith Morgan; son, John Neu (Leia) of Scranton; sister, Teresa Knight of Osage City; brother Dan L. Williams (Carol) of Elkheart, Indiana; 8 grandchildren; 1 nephew and countless other family and friends.
A celebration of Dave’s life will be held at a future date to be determined.
