James Arthur Hamman, 76, passed away Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at his home.
James Arthur Hamman was born January 12, 1941 in Emporia, the son of Marion Hamman and Bernice (Jones) Winter. He graduated from Roosevelt High School in Emporia.
He had served in the National Guard and worked for the Santa Fe Railroad on the telegraph and switchboard for many years until he retired in 1992.
James was joined in marriage to Eda Van Horn on August 7, 1971 in Emporia. They would later divorce.
He is survived by a daughter, Kelly Brown of Emporia; a son, Mark Hamman of Salt Lake City, Utah; a sister, Mary Chapman of Emporia; a brother, Harlan Hamman of Topeka and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Daniel Hamman and two step-fathers, Cecil Davis and Ben Winter.
Cremation has taken place. Family will be receiving friends, Tuesday, July 25, 2017 from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Jones VanArsdale Funeral Home in Lebo.
