Jack Alan Casebier, 79, of Reading, KS passed away peacefully, and in the comfort of his home, on December 16, 2023.
Jack was born in Emporia, KS on August 30, 1944, the son of Guy Orvis and Abbie Marie (Renner) Casebier. He grew up with his 9 siblings in Reading, KS, where he farmed for many years on the Casebier Farm. In 1962, Jack graduated from Reading High School. In January of 1964, he enlisted in the US Navy. Jack was incredibly proud of his service as a Torpedoman and was stationed in Spain on the USS Holland during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged from active duty after 4 years of service and greatly enjoyed going to reunions to see those he served alongside.
After his military service, Jack began work as an over the road truck driver. He loved to travel, driving all over the United States and was at home on the road. When he wasn’t traveling, he liked to spend his time driving around town with his coffee to and from family and friends’ houses to visit with them. He was also a part of the construction of Wolf Creek Nuclear Power Plant in Burlington, Kansas. He had a sharp memory and could remember absolutely everything about everyone he talked to. Jack had a hippie spirit and appreciated good food, good music, and a good smoke. Even as his health made him less mobile, he still loved spending time with family and friends when they came over to visit.
Preceding him in death are his parents, Guy and Marie Casebier; brothers, Alpha Guy Casebier and Austin Euguene Casebier; and 4 sisters, Zola Marie Stapleton, Wanda LaVonne Hopper, Betty Alyce Smith, and Effie NelJeanette Gregory; daughter, Brooke Casebier; and 2 grandchildren, Grace and Phillip Casebier.
Jack’s memory will live on in the hearts of his 3 daughters, Heather Casebier, Hope Casebier-Bafford, and Chenoa Casebier; sisters, Jane King, Carol Trebbe, and Jimmy Sue Ponchillia; 7 grandchildren, Justin Aguilar, Ashley Aguilar, Domanick Aguilar, Landyn Bafford, Paris Vigil, Ethan Casebier, and Noah Schrader; great granddaughter, Laila Aguilar; and countless other family members and friends.
A Celebration of Life for Jack will be held on Saturday, January 20th, 2024 from 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM at the Reading Civic Center, 613 1st Street, Reading, KS 66868.
