Isabelle Irene Bruce

Isabelle Irene Bruce, 87, passed away Friday, August 29, 2014 at Peterson Nursing Home in Osage City. She was born on September 13, 1926 in Burlington, Kansas the daughter of William and Pearl Irene McGhann Germann. Isabelle was a graduate of New Strawn High School. She was joined in marriage to Woodrow "Woody" Bruce on October, 12, 1946 in Cottonwood Falls, Kansas. Isabelle was a switchboard operator for Southwestern Bell for over fifty years until her retirement in the mid 1980's. Isabelle was very instrumental in the upbringing of most of her grandchildren and took great pride in the fact that she had the opportunity to help raise them. She will be lovingly remembered by two sisters, Leota Simon of Burlington, Kansas and Laverne Holscher of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; ten grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Isabelle was preceded in death by her husband Woody on September 3, 1968. She was also preceded by one daughter, Janet Stafford; three sons, Richard Bruce, Randy Bruce and Curtis Bruce; three sisters, Virginia, Beulah and Marie; three brothers, Ray, Ernie and Hubert Germann.
