Howard Fred Freerksen, 90, passed away, Wednesday, April 13, 2022 at Emporia Presbyterian Manor.
Howard “Fred” Freerksen was born June 5, 1931, near Lebo, Kansas, the son of Roy and Edna (Parks) Freerksen. He graduated from Lebo High School in 1948. Served four years in the United States Navy during the Korean War.
He was joined in marriage to Barbara Bronson on June 20, 1953 in Lebo. To this union, three children were born, Diana, Howard, and Thomas.
Fred retired as an Auto Mechanic Teacher at Flint Hills Technical College. He was a member of the Lebo Baptist Church and of the American Legion.
He will be forever remembered by his wife, Barbara of the home; a daughter, Diana Freerksen of Neosho Rapids; two sons, Howard (Pam) Freerksen of Lebo and Thomas (Janice) Freerksen of Bel Aire, Kansas; a sister, Veda Sliter of Lebo; three brothers, John (Myrle) Freerksen of Melvern, Glenn (Julie) Freerksen of Omaha, Nebraska, Nelson Dean (Jane) Freerksen of Meriden, Kansas; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 19, 2022 at Jones VanArsdale Funeral Home in Lebo. Family will receive friends on Monday, April 18, 2022 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at funeral home. Military honor burial will be held following the service at Lincoln Cemetery in Lebo. Memorial contributions may be made to the Buck Fund and sent in care of Jones VanArsdale Funeral Home, P.O. Box 43, Lebo, Kansas 66856. Condolences may be expressed at Vanarsdalefs.com.
