Glenda Miller-Failing, 82, passed away early Monday, September 19, 2022 at Emporia Place.
She was born November 12, 1939 in Olivet, Kansas the daughter of Glen and Irene Protheroe Thorne. Glenda attended Lebo High School and graduated with the Class of 1957. She went on to earn a Bachelor's Degree in Education from the Kansas State Teachers College in Emporia.
Glenda married Don Miller and they had four children. They were later divorced. She later married Jack Failing.
Glenda began her career with the United States Postal Service as a part time temporary substitute Post Master. This would evolve into the full time Post Master, a position that she would dutifully uphold until her retirement in 1999.
She was always up for a ballgame or any local youth event. Glenda took great pride in watching her family participate in sporting events and could sometimes be heard expressing her excitement from the stands. Her children and grandchildren were always at the top of her list. A close second was playing cards with many of the local women in various card clubs. She was a member of the Lebo United Methodist Church and served in the Mother Mary Circle. Her other memberships included being Past Secretary of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees and membership in the American Legion Auxiliary.
Glenda will live on in the hearts and memories of her daughters, Lori Gourley and her husband Doyle of Lebo, Donna Berland and her husband Terry of Lebo and Ronda Holmes and her husband Jeff of Lebo; a son Randy Miller and his wife Lori of Lebo; 10 grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; numerous extended family and a community of dear friends.
The family invites you to join them at the Lebo United Methodist Church on Thursday, September 22, 2022 at 10:30 A.M. Burial will follow services at Lincoln Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lebo Booster Club and sent in care of the Jones VanArsdale Funeral Home at Box #43, Lebo, Kansas 66856. Condolences may be expressed at vanarsdalefs.com.
