Gladean Mayone Burd

Gladean Mayone Burd, 92, passed away Sunday, January 30, 2022 at her home in Lebo.

Gladean Mayone Griffin was born September 23, 1929 in Strawn, Kansas, the daughter of Veasy Ray and Gladys Eliza (Allen) Griffin. She graduated high school in Strawn.

She was joined in marriage to Bobby Dean Burd on June 23, 1948 in Emporia. To this union, three children were born Linda, Loy, and Roger.

Gladean was a homemaker for her family. She did work as a bookkeeper for Thompson Trucking and her husband, Bob’s business. Her and Bob owned and operated the Gamble’s store in Osage City.

She will be forever remembered by her daughter, Linda (Bob) Dayhoff of Osage City; a son, Roger Burd of Kansas City, Missouri; a sister, Elaine (Dale) Smith of Bozeman, Montana; a son-in-law, Mike Simon of Henderson, Nevada; nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

Gladean was preceded in death by her parents and husband; a daughter, Loy Simon; a grandson, Jesse Burd; three brothers, Donald Allen, Norman Ray and Otto Kay Griffin.

Family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m., Monday, February 7,2022 at Jones VanArsdale Funeral Home in Lebo. Graveside service will be held at 12:00 p.m., following the visitation at Jones VanArsdale Funeral Home in Lebo and interment to follow at Lincoln Cemetery in Lebo..
