Georgia J. Rush

Georgia J. “Nita” Rush, 95, of Topeka, a long time resident of Eskridge, Kansas, passed away February 24, 2023.

She was born August 18, 1927 in Paxico, Kansas the daughter of George and Inez Miller Lietz. In 1941 Nita moved to Eskridge to attend high school. She lived with several area families until her parents could get moved to Eskridge. Nita graduated from Eskridge Rural High School with the Class of 1945.

On May 15, 1949 she was joined in marriage to Art Rush. They shared over 66 years together. To this union two children were born, Diane Butler and her husband Brad of Topeka; John Rush and his wife Vickie of Eskridge. Nita is also survived by her grandchildren, Chad Butler and his wife Deb, Jay Butler, Justin Rush and his wife Hanna and Stephanie Rush; great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Butler, Madison Butler, Samantha Butler, Declan Rush and Jocelyn Rush; a sister Maddy Sterrett of Holton; brothers, Mike Lietz and his wife Karen of Topeka and Gary Lietz and his wife Maggie of Eskridge; numerous nieces; nephews; extended family and a community of friends. Nita was preceded in death by her husband Art on October 3, 2015. She was also preceded in death by a brother, Dale Lietz in 2021

Nita began working part time at the Eskridge State Bank in 1961. She continued through the change to Flint Hills Bank of Eskridge and served 33 years before retiring in the mid 1990’s.

Nita was a devoted member of the Redeemer Lutheran Mission Church at Lake Wabaunsee.

Graveside services will be held at 12:30 P.M., Thursday, March 2, 2023 at Eskridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 P.M. until 7:30 P.M. at the Redeemer Lutheran Church at Lake Wabaunsee. Memorial contributions may be made to the Redeemer Lutheran Church, The Eskridge Park Foundation or The Devore Community Pool and sent in care of VanArsdale Funeral Chapel 107 N. 6th Street, Osage City, Kansas 66523.
