Ella Mae Deneault Livengood, 95, passed away Tuesday, November 26, 2024 at her home in Madison surrounded by her loving family.
She was born April 19, 1929 on a farm southeast of Concordia, Kansas the daughter of A. Victor and Henrietta Goyette Deneault.
Following high school, Ella continued with art classes and painting workshops throughout her adult life. Her art which included sculpting, earned Ella countless awards spanning more than seventy years.
Ella married the love of her life, Guy L. Livengood on January 17, 1947, in Salina, Kansas.. The young couple began their lives together in Concordia before moving to Atchison, Kansas in 1953 where they raised a daughter, Jennifer. The family would later move to Wichita in 1965. Ella and Guy enjoyed twenty eight years together. Guy would precede Ella in death on August 30, 1975.
Ella worked as a Receptionist, Switch-board Operator, and Secretary at St. Francis School of Nursing and the St. Francis Data Center until her retirement in 1991. Ella’s artistry led her to memberships in the Kansas Art Guild and the Wichita Oil Painting Society. Some of her paintings became part of permanent collections including the Coutts Memorial Museum of Art, Inc. in El Dorado, the Kansas Aviation Museum in Wichita and numerous private collections. She donated a painting that hangs in her home church of St. Teresa of Avila in Madison where Ella was also a devoted member of the Alter Society.
Ella will live on in the hearts and countless memories of her daughter, Jennifer Browning and her husband Bill of Madison; her two grandchildren, William E.L. Browning of Blue Mountain, Canada and Elizabeth Kusmaul of Madison; her two great-grandchildren, Carson and Gabriella Kusmaul of Madison; a sister, Gloria Hall of San Antonio, Texas; her extended community of friends and all those who gaze into her artwork for years to come. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, December 4, 2024 at the St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church in Madison. The Rosary will be recited at 9:30 A.M. Wednesday prior to Mass at the Church. Ella will be placed to rest next to her beloved Guy in the Saint Concordia Catholic Cemetery in Concordia, Kansas on Wednesday afternoon. Memorial Contributions may be made to the St. Teresa of Avila Alter Society and sent in care of the VanArsdale Funeral Home, P.O. Box #488, Madison, Kansas 66860.
