Dudley Dean Harlan, 96, passed away Wednesday, September 3, 2014. He was born December 7, 1917 in Madison, Kansas the son of Lee and Eva Miller Harlan. He attended grade school in Madison and graduated from Madison High School. Dudley was joined in marriage to Madeline Pearl Jeck on September 19, 1942 at the Maydale Catholic Church southeast of Olpe. They lived in Madison during the early years of their marriage and Dudley began his career working in oil production. The couple moved to Augusta in 1951 and Dudley began working for Mobil Oil. They later followed his work to the communities of Attica and Satanta. Dudley eventually retired from Mobil in 1979. Dudley and Madeline returned to Madison in 1979. Dudley found great enjoyment in woodworking and raising his garden. He also enjoyed helping his brothers, Marvin and Norman on their farms. He will be lovingly remembered by his three daughters, Bonnie Jennings and her husband Ken of Harker Heights, Texas, Joyce Hamm and her husband Larry of Andover and June Harlan of Wichita; two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Dudley was preceded in death by his wife, Madeline on February 25, 2012 and his two brothers, Marvin and Norman.
