Deborah Marie Blatchford, 59, passed away Monday, November 5, 2018 at her home in El Dorado. She was born July 2, 1959 in Sioux City, Iowa the daughter of Cyril and Mary Ann Berens Pottebaum. She attended North High School in Sioux City and graduated with the Class of 1977. Shortly after high school, Debbie enlisted in the United States Army and served in Germany. In 1980 she married John Smithwick. They moved numerous times following John’s appointments as a member of the Army. They lived in Maryland, Georgia and Alaska. Debbie and John would later divorce. In 1991 Debbie moved to Colorado. She worked as a customer service representative at various call centers. She was also very active as a sales representative for Avon and Tupperware for many years. During this time of her life she lived in Denver and later Wheatland and Torrington, Wyoming. She would later move back to Colorado. While back in Colorado, Debbie met David William Blatchford Jr. They were married on February 9, 2009 in Arvada, Colorado. They attended the Grace Church of South Park in Jefferson Colorado. In 2014 they moved to El Dorado. Debbie and Dave later lived in Wichita before moving back to El Dorado in October of this year. Debbie will live on in the hearts of her husband, Dave of their home; sons, Mike Smithwick of El Dorado and Jason Smithwick of Nebraska City, Nebraska; seven grandchildren; sisters, Jean Miller and Patty Hanson of South Sioux City, Nebraska and Cindy Strong of Broomfield, Colorado; a brother, Marvin Pottebaum of Sioux City, Iowa; numerous extended family and a host of dear friends. Memorial services will be held at 3:00 P.M. Saturday, November10th at the First Church of The Nazarene, 202 N. Taylor St. in El Dorado. Condolences may be expressed at vanarsdalefs.com.
