David Jason Pfaff, 96, passed away Sunday, April 13, 2025 at Newman Regional Health in Emporia.
He was born May 9, 1928, in LeRoy, Kansas, the son of William M. and Katherine L. Lucey Pfaff.
David attended high school at Old Strawn and graduated with the Class of 1946. He soon enlisted in the United States Navy. David earned an honorable discharge on March 19, 1948. While fulfilling his Naval Reserve requirements, David was recalled to active duty during the Korean War, serving proudly once again.
He put his entrepreneurial spirit to work soon after completing the military service to his country. David became a Licensed Hearing Aid Specialist and operated the Hearing Aid Center in St. Joseph, Missouri after moving there in 1957. In 1995, David sold his business and retired.
David returned to the Lebo area in the early 2000’s, reacquainting himself with the people and the small-town atmosphere that helped mold his youth. He had a lifelong love and appreciation for nature and the great outdoors which he shared with his children. Some of his favorite activities were playing golf with friends, camping, backpacking, and fishing with family, hunting with his sons and rooting for the Kansas Jayhawks.
David will live on in the hearts and memories of his daughters, Amy Teegarden of Helena, Montana, Ann Fredrickson of Wickenburg, Arizona, and Pipestone Minnesota; sons, William “Bill” Pfaff of Waukee, Iowa, David Pfaff of Sioux Falls, South Dakota and Kurt Pfaff of Shorewood, Minnesota; a brother, Roger Pfaff of Hesston, Kansas; nine grandchildren; one step grandchild; nine great-grandchildren; five step great-grandchildren; numerous extended families and a community of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Joe Pfaff.
Mr. Pfaff was cremated and the details of any upcoming services will be posted at a later date.
