Clyde Wayne Jackson

Clyde W. Jackson, 92, passed away with his family by his side on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at his home.

Clyde Wayne Jackson was born October 10, 1932, in Carbondale, Kansas, the son of Everett and Bertha (Widau) Jackson. He graduated from Osage City High School in 1950. 

Clyde served in the United States Navy during the Korean conflict, where he served on the U.S.S. Destroyer Walke.

He was joined in marriage to Linda Ellen Long on December 19, 1958, in Osage City. 

Clyde worked for DuPont for 30 years and owned is own landscaping business.

He was very involved in his children and grandchildren events. Clyde coached his son and grandson on their Little League teams. Spent time with them Trap and Skeet shooting and motorcross racing. He was a big fan the Osage Indians, Council Braves, and the Kansas City Royals and Chiefs, or anything sports. Clyde later built a pond and spent many, many hours fishing with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, and was always available for a tractor or lawn mower ride.

He was an avid gardener and was always willing to share his sweet corn and tomatoes.

Clyde is survived by his wife, Linda of the home; two daughters, Shari (Dennis) Buchman of Wilsey and Susan (Daniel) Eckelberry of Arma, Kansas; a son, Denny Jackson of Osage City; a sister, JoAnn Long of Osage City; a sister-in-law, Jane Jackson of Osage City; eight grandchildren, Tanner (Ashley) Buchman, Travis (Micaela) Buchman, Tryntan (Kayleigh) Buchman, all of Council Grove, Michelle (Eric) Ferrer of Osage City, David Canon of Osage City, Ben (Savanah) Jackson of Lawrence, Kyle (Aly) Eckelberry of Frontenac, Kansas and Caleb (Katie) Eckelberry of Auburndale, Florida; seventeen great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant sister, Ruth; two sisters, Kathryn Bronson and Betty Bean; three brothers, Charles, Fred “Fritz”, and John Jackson; two great-granddaughters, Ryan and Erica.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, February 20, 2025, at VanArsdale Funeral Home in Osage City. Family will receive friends a hour before service.
