Carol Ann Hind, born on November 21, 1940, in Emporia, Kansas, passed away on December 27, 2024, in Topeka, Kansas. A devoted nurse and educator, Carol's passion for her profession was evident throughout her career, which traces back to her early days working under Dr. Henning at Cedar House in Ottawa, Kansas. In 1965, she began her long tenure at Newman Hospital in Emporia, where she made significant contributions as both the Director of Nursing and the Assistant Administrator of Nursing.

Carol’s commitment to nursing extended beyond her clinical duties. She dedicated time to instructing future healthcare professionals, teaching CNA certification courses and Pharmacology for LPN students at Flinthills Technical College. Her expertise and leadership were later recognized when she became the Director of Infection Control and Risk Management at the Mental Health Center of East Central Kansas, a position she held with pride. Even up until her passing, she remained an influential member of the board of directors for the center. She also contributed her skills in her position as Director of Risk Management at Greenwood County Hospital.

A proud graduate of Emporia State University, Carol earned her nursing degree and a Bachelor's degree in Psychology, followed later by a Master's in Business. Throughout her professional life, she consistently sought to enhance her knowledge and skills, reflecting her dedication to both personal growth and the advancement of her field.

Carol was known not just for her professional accomplishments but also for her warm personality and deep commitment to family. She was united in marriage to her husband of 59 years, James Hind on August 29th, 1965, in Emporia, KS. She found joy in gardening and embraced the role of a loving grandmother, cherishing her time with her three grandchildren. She was a member of P.E.O. Chapter DY and the Methodist Women's Circle at the Methodist Church in Madison.

Carol is survived by her loving husband, James Hind of Madison, KS; son, Michael Hind (Melinda) of Lincoln, NE; daughter-in-law, Amy Hind of Madison, KS; sister, Janice Randall (Jess) of Mound City, KS; her brother, Kevin Beemer (Paula) of Gilbert, AZ; sister-in-law, Virginia Beemer (Arlen) and her husband, Ande Peterson; and her cherished grandchildren: Olivia, Jillian, and Nathan Hind.

Carol was preceded in death by her son, Brian Hind, and several family members; father, Edward J. Beemer; mother, Martha (Unruh) Beemer; her sister, Thearle Burton; and brothers, Larry and Arlen Beemer.

Her legacy will be remembered through her vast contributions to nursing and her unwavering commitment to educating the next generation of health care providers. Carol Hind lived her life with purpose, and her memory will forever remain in the hearts of those she touched.

Visitation will be held on January 3, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM. Both services will take place at the Global Methodist Church of Madison, located at 316 W Sherman St, Madison, KS 66860. Interment will follow at Blakely Cemetery, Madison, KS.
