Bernard E. Hoobler

Bernard E. “Bernie” Hoobler, 63 of Madison, passed away Thursday, September 30, 2021 at Newman Regional Health.
            Bernie was born October 10, 1957 in Emporia, Kansas the son of Roy E. and Elwilda B. How Hoobler. He attended Madison High School and graduated with the Class of 1975.
            Following high school, Bernie worked as a ranch hand before taking a job at Modine Manufacturing in Emporia. He later worked at ABZ Manufacturing in Madison and has spent the past several years employed at Hopkins Manufacturing in Emporia.
            Bernie had previously served on the Madison Rural Fire Department.  He had previously married but was currently divorced.
            From an early age, Bernie expressed a knack for drawing. He would most often use pencil to capture nature scenes and was particularly fond of drawing horses. His love of horses was not limited to his art, he truly enjoyed horseback riding as well.
            He will live on in the hearts and memories of his father, Roy E. Hoobler of Madison; a sister, Deborah Haag and her husband Tony of Olpe; a niece, Heather Luby of Emporia; a nephew, Andrew Haag and his wife Jean of Olpe; numerous extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Elwilda “Willie” Hoobler and a niece Melissa Mays.
            Cremation is planned with a memorial service being held at 11:00 A.M., Saturday, October 9, 2021 at the VanArsdale Funeral Home in Madison. His ashes will be buried next to his mother in Blakely Cemetery at a later date. Condolences may be expressed at vanarsdalefs.com.
